Overview
At ECU, we understand that everyone deserves an opportunity to reach their potential. Our University Preparation Course (UniPrep) prepares students for University study by teaching them essential study skills in one semester of full-time study (or the equivalent in part-time study). UniPrep offers students the time and space to become familiar with university life and study before students start their undergraduate course.

Access and Equity is responsible for delivering high quality enabling programs that meet the needs of pre-tertiary students, schools and communities, and progressing equitable and inclusive practice across the institution. A key focus of the area is creating university pathways for diverse cohorts of students in metropolitan and regional contexts.

The Role
We are seeking an experienced educator with a passion for assisting students to reach their full potential, to join our innovative, energetic, forward-thinking team on our Joondalup and Mount Lawley campuses. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced educator to make a difference at ECU through teaching and learning.

This position is predominately concerned with teaching and teaching-related duties. The Lecturer position provides academic skills development and support to students through the teaching and coordination of enabling / university preparation units, particularly focused on the development of academic writing. As a Lecturer within the University Preparation Course you will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and review, be engaged with student retention and participate in program planning.

Key Criteria
To be successful in this role, you will:

  • hold postgraduate qualification at master’s level or equivalent as a minimum;
  • demonstrate education and research experience within a tertiary education setting, preferably within an enabling program or focused on transition to university
  • demonstrate the ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources
  • hold relevant expertise in developing and delivering appropriate and engaging learning experiences for students in academic writing and critical thinking.
  • hold high level written and oral communication skills including the ability to effectively collaborate with team members, external parties and colleagues

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate skills and achievement in supporting students’ transition to university, and a good understanding of how to support students facing additional barriers to success in university studies.

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration
This part-time (50%), fixed-term (until 31 December 2022) position attracts remuneration of $72,650 to $97,389 p.a. (50% pro-rata) (ALEVA) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
