About the opportunity

The Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (DVC) Education at the University of Sydney leads initiatives to enhance teaching practices, curriculum development, and student learning experiences university wide. They are seeking an enthusiastic Head, Curriculum and Quality to cover a parental leave contract.

As the interim Head, Curriculum and Quality, you will provide strategic leadership to enhance curriculum management, information, governance and quality across the University of Sydney. You'll manage a dedicated team of curriculum advisors, and foster collaborative relationships to achieve our educational objectives.

Reporting to the Associate Director (Education), your key responsibilities will be to:

  • lead development and delivery of strategic projects and a wide range of business-as-usual curriculum functions, ensuring their responsible and efficient execution

  • effectively manage and coordinate a broad team, aligning resources with activities and maintaining a standard of excellence

  • provide high-level support and advice to senior-level stakeholders, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and principles

  • build and manage constructive working relationships with faculties and professional service units

  • represent the portfolio or the university at relevant board committees and working groups as required.

  • administrative and operational experience in a tertiary organisation, including managing staff and leading multifaceted teams

  • demonstrated ability to provide concise, objective advice and manage stakeholders in complex projects

  • strong communication skills and the ability to prepare compelling communications for diverse audiences in an academic environment

  • understanding of the policy process, governance arrangements, and administrative decision-making in higher education

  • experience managing the design and implementation of strategic projects in a higher education context or a complex, multifaceted organisation

  • deep understanding of the domestic and global higher education sector and other relevant candidate markets.

Australian Temporary Residents currently employed at the University of Sydney may be considered for a fixed term contract for the length of their visa, depending on the requirements of the hiring area and the reasons for the position.
