YOUR ROLE

The Alumni Communication Specialist is the one who oversees the distribution of the University's communications to the alumni community in Vietnam. The successful candidate will collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders to create and execute communication strategies across various channels, with the goal of cultivating a robust and connected alumni network in Vietnam.

This exciting new position is designed to support our growth strategy and includes responsibility for managing social media communications, as well as coordinating online and offline delivery in Vietnam.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Lead, create and implement the functional comms plan and strategy. Conduct evaluation of current social channels managed by each team which ensures brand consistency and department brand visibility

  • Manage the effective delivery of alumni communication strategy across Vietnam campuses using multiple digital channels, and ensuring that communication aligns with Alumni and RMIT key messages and branding;

  • Identify, outreach and write communication content including but not limited to alumni success stories, business promotions for alumni activities, and other content to engage alumni in Vietnam.

  • Coordinate and work closely with prominent alumni, other RMIT teams based in the region and, with their support, identify alumni influencers and track online activities;

  • Collaborate closely with other RMIT team members within the Career, Industry and Alumni teams, the academic Schools, the Divisions, RMIT Press Office and Events team and the Melbourne alumni and marketing/communications team;

  • Proactively develop and lead initiatives, communication campaigns to engage with alumni including the creation of project plans, implementations and evaluation;

  • Manage alumni-specific communication channels such as Alumni Network, eDMs, SMS, social media, and create new channels if required;

  • Main contact point for all event communication inquiries including addressing queries, providing solutions and communicating to relevant stakeholder groups for implementation.

  • Collaborate effectively with Divisions, Schools, and Departments to support their alumni-related communications

  • Consolidate communication best practices to maintain standards and quality.

  • Lead debrief meetings and distribute post-event reports to relevant stakeholders for quality assurance and improvement

  • Update contact details, engagement for alumni into relevant CRM databases in an accurate and timely way.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant discipline

  • At least 3 years of experience in a similar position (communications, PRs, advertising, creative) in an international environment.

  • Practical experience in managing online/digital landscape (copywriting, visual creation)

  • Proficient written and spoken English and highly developed communication skills including; well-developed interpersonal, negotiation, networking and liaison skills.

  • Excellent track record in effective stakeholder management. 

  • Ability to manage and coordinate communication from inception to completion.

  • Mature, self-driven, results oriented individual with ability to critically assess own performance

  • Ability to follow processes, work effectively within a team, self-motivated and driven.

  • Superior time management skills, including ability to multi-tasking and meet deadlines.

  • Knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement principles.

  • Ability to provide exemplary customer service with a wide variety of individuals such as students, industry partners, and academic staff.

  • Ability to display appropriate behaviours in line with the position, as per the RMIT Behavioural Capability Framework (Connectedness, Commitment to Excellence – Improve and Simplify; Imagination and Innovation; Impact; Inclusion; Agility).

English Proficiency

  • The minimum requirement is IELTS Academic 6.0 or 160 in Linguaskills.
