About the Position

 

A Sr Content Creator partners with colleagues and key stakeholders to create compelling, audience-appropriate, multi-channel, contemporary films that engage and build relationships with all target audiences, including prospective students, current students, alumni and other partners.  An individual uses expert production and post-production skills to create story-driven, cinematic long form films as well as fun, engaging and highly shareable films and experiences for social audiences.  A Sr Content Creator manages, organizes and implements a wide range of projects to elevate the University of Phoenix brand and support student recruitment goals.


 

What You’ll Do


1. Create content, concepts and treatments for story-driven film content; ensure distribution, brand management and analytic assessment to ensure the strategic and editorial direction to enhance the digital reputation of University of Phoenix; maintain the voice and tone of the University on social media channels.

 

2. Develop and design content ideas; present recommendations to department and senior Marketing leadership; produce and edit original short-form films that leverage the strengths and nuances of various social channels; collaborate with the social media team to concept highly sharable, on-brand, social-first content.

 

3. Collaborate closely with department leadership and technical colleagues to light, shoot and edit a wide variety of film projects; utilize film assets as vital branding vehicles for telling the University’s stories, building affinity and increasing the University’s profile and standing among internal and external audiences.

 

4. Innovate with new edit techniques and approaches to stay ahead of the ever-changing social media landscape.

 

5. Mentor junior team members on lighting, camera prep, operational and editorial skills; provide expert guidance to team members regarding creative content development, design and implementation.

 

6. Participate outside of regular business hours, to support projects when necessary, including occasional travel

 

7. Perform other duties as assigned or apparent.

MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

• Bachelor’s Degree and four (4) years of commercial filmmaking experience, either freelance or a production company (or a combination), with a clear understanding of set roles and etiquette; 

OR

• High School Diploma or GED and eight (8) years of commercial filmmaking experience, either freelance or a production company (or a combination), with a clear understanding of set roles and etiquette

 

PREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Strong still photography skills

• Familiarity with advanced color grading concepts within DaVinci Resolve Studio

• Basic VFX skills (paint-outs, keying, etc.)

• Sound mixing and audio cleanup skills (Audition, Pro Tools and Izotope familiarity)

• Strong familiarity with building and operating professional camera packages (RED, Alexa Mini, Canon C300, A7S ii)

• Director of Photography/Gaffer experience lighting small to mid-sized studio sets and a wide variety of indoor and outdoor locations

• Lightning fast on Adobe Premiere and After Effects, all workflows being second nature

• Strong editorial and cinematic storytelling skills 

• Strong understanding of motion graphics and typography

• Extensive understanding of marketing, advertising and social content spaces with a strong grasp of what’s hot, what’s trending and how this fits within the context of the University of Phoenix brand narrative

• Expert at creating engaging and playful visual storytelling for social media, especially vertical formats and ultra-short content

• Expert-level collaboration skills

Pay Range


The annual pay range for this position is $63,200 (minimum), $95,500 (midpoint), and $127,800 (maximum).*


*Typical hiring range is between the minimum and midpoint of the above pay range. Actual starting base pay may vary based on factors such as education, experience, skills, location and budget.
