Essential Functions (Job Duties)
The Department of Family Medicine & Public Health Sciences and the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics of the Wayne State University School of Medicine invites applications to a Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in Biostatistics/Statistics. This postdoctoral position provides full funding without any teaching requirements at a competitive salary. The initial position is for one year. This may be renewable for a second-year subject to the availability of funding and satisfactory performance of the candidate.  
Unique Duties
The postdoctoral fellow will work under the supervision of Professor Samiran Ghosh, PhD. The area of research is fairly broad. However particular emphasis will be on statistical methodology development for Clinical Trial, GLM, Missing Data, Network modeling and High dimensional data analysis and Bayesian modelling. The candidate will be responsible for the following job duties:
1). Statistical programming with vigorous research;
2). Prepare scientific manuscripts for publication;
3). Train and assist in grantsmanship;
4). Present original research results at national conferences;
5). Other similar lab duties as assigned
A PhD in statistics/biostatistics or related quantitative field is required.
Requires advanced knowledge in a field of science or learning, predominantly intellectual in character. This knowledge is acquired by a prolonged course of specialized intellectual instruction.
Three years minimum job related experience.
Must be distinguished in research. Prior recipient of funding for research based on individual achievements.
Some exposure in statistical computer programming (e.g. R/SAS) is needed.
Ability to work independently, secure grants and funding for research. Ability to collect, analyze, summarize and interpret research findings in reports and communicate results to the field. Knowledge of and experience with current scientific integrity principles. Excellent time management, organization, interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work with others in a collaborative environment. Microsoft office software skills.

Typical work environment may include a laboratory and/or office environment. May require working non-standard business hours including evenings and weekends. May be required to travel to scientific conferences.
