CYBATHLON of ETH Zurich offers a platform to advance research in the field of assistive technology and to promote the dialogue with the public about the inclusion of people with disabilities in everyday life. Main driver is a unique championship in which people with physical disabilities compete against each other to complete everyday tasks using state-of-the-art technical assistance systems.


Project background

The CYBATHLON  team is looking for a student to support the visualisation for the competition obstacles for the rulebook and the competition and event infrastructure management in the CYBATHLON testing and storage hall.


Job description

In this function you will visualise the infrastructure of the CYBATHLON  competition such as the competition obstacles in cooperation with the technology and competition management of the CYBATHLON organising committee. You will create the drawings for the CYBATHLON rulebook and render 3D views for other publications around the CYBATHLON events. Based on your drawings, elements of the competition infrastructure will be manufactured. You are jointly responsible for the maintenance and inventory of the existing competition and event infrastructure - consisting of competition equipment, material, and information technology (IT). You will keep track of the inventory and do simple repair tasks. You support the CYBATHLON team in the execution of events.

It is a student job, paid on an hourly basis, starting August/September 2021 until at least July 2023, desirable until end of 2024.


Your profile

You have very good knowledge in the use of CAD programmes like Autodesk Inventor and in product design processes, e.g. you study mechanical engineering, architecture, or another technical discipline. Solid English skills, understanding of event and (sports-)competition processes and interest in social, scientific, and technical topics complement your profile.

You are flexible in regarding the job workload since the tasks may not be evenly distributed over the months, i.e. there are phases with more and phases with less workload.
