100%, fixed-term

The Neural Control of Movement Lab at ETH Zurich (Department of Health Sciences and Technology) investigates the effect of neuromodulation on brain function and behaviour. We have recently developed a new neurofeedback method for the self-regulation of arousal and are currently seeking to extend this research line to a practical application.

Project background

For the interdisciplinary project “Mental self-regulating of arousal under pressure: applying a new neurofeedback approach for enhancing sports performance and improving relaxation prior to sleep” in collaboration with the Swiss Federal Institute of Sport Magglingen, applications are invited for a Postdoctoral Position.

Job description

We are interested in developing a new arousal regulation training (relaxation and activation) in healthy particpants which will be guided by neurofeedback implemented in a virtual reality setup. Importantly, we aim to test whether this self-regulation training improves performance in experimentally induced, stressful situations.

Your profile

The successful candidate will have a PhD (or be close to completion) in the field of (neuro)psychology, (cognitive) neuroscience or a related field. The candidate should have  experience with behavioural and/or psychological experimentation in human participants, ideally in the area of emotional regulation and/or stress tests. Additionally, they should be technically oriented with programming experience in Matlab, Python or a similar language. The candidate is a team player, has strong communication skills, is self-motivated, has scientific curiosity, tackles works independently and efficiently and performs rigorous experimental work.

We offer

We offer a postdoc position in a great scientific and social environment at a world-leading university. You will be involved in an exciting project and become part of a motivated, interdisciplinary team that is eager to bring laboratory results into practice.
