For the Structural Biology Neuronal Systems group we are looking for a

PhD Student
Functional, molecular and structural profile of neuronal circuits underlying behavior

Your tasks

  • In vivo two-photon calcium imaging in behaving mice
  • Histology on brain tissue for light, electron and X-ray microscopy
  • Surgical procedures, e.g. cranial window implantation, perfusion, tissue extraction, sectioning
  • Analyzing the functional, molecular and structural profile of neuronal circuits from the acquired data

Skills/Qualifications

Your profile

  • Msc or diploma degree in neuroscience, physics, engineering or related discipline
  • Experience in two-photon calcium imaging, behavioural training and surgeries would be a plus
  • Experience with immunohistochemistry and/or electron microscopy staining workflows would be a plus
  • Experience in data analysis using Matlab or Python would be a plus
  • Interest in the function and structure of neuronal circuits of the healthy and diseased brain
  • You like to collaborate with an interdisciplinary team of chemists, neurobiologists, beamline scientists, physicists and engineers
