Offer Description
Applications are open for one Research Grant, within the framework of project “BLOCKCHAIN.PT” (Contract no. 51) of IST-ID, funded by national funds through IAPMEI/PRR (Mobilising Agendas for Business Innovation
Workplan: The research fellow will be expected to carry out the following tasks:
- Carrying out a meta-analysis of Life Cycle Assessment studies on animal products (milk and ruminant meat).
- Writing a scientific article.
- Possible preparation of an application for a PhD scholarship to continue the work.
Duration: The research grant will have a duration of 12 months. It is expected to begin in April 2024 and the grant contract can, if justified, be eventually renewed.
It is mandatory to formalize applications with the submission of the following documents: i) B1 Form – Fellowship application (https://ist-id.pt/concursos/bolsas/ ); ii) Curriculum Vitae; iii) academic degree certificate; iv) proof of enrollment a course that does not award an academic degree (only at the time of contract signing); v) motivation letter; vi) declaration on honour that the applicant does not exceed with this contract an accumulated period of two years in this type of studentship, continuously or with interruptions.

Benefits
Monthly maintenance allowance: According to the values for Research Fellowships awarded by FCT in Portugal (https://www.fct.pt/wp-content/uploads/2024/02/Tabela-de-Valores-SMM_atualizacao-2024.pdf ), the amount of the monthly maintenance allowance is 1,259.64 €, being the payment method (by wire transfer or cheque) an option of the Research Fellow. The grant holder will be reimbursed of the payment of Voluntary Social Security (up to the amount corresponding to the 1st grade).

Selection process
Selection methods: The selection methods will be the following:
- 40% will be attributed to the classification obtained in the degree (score from 1 to 20);
- 10% will be attributed to familiarity with Life Cycle Assessment and/or the agricultural sector (score from 1 to 20);
- 10% will be attributed to familiarity with soil carbon sequestration;
- 10% will be attributed to familiarity with the climate models of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC).
If there are no candidates with a score of more than 60 per cent in criterion 1, no candidate will be selected.
Composition of the selection Jury: President: Researcher Ricardo Filipe de Melo Teixeira; Voting members: Professor Tiago Domingos and Professor Tânia Alexandra dos Santos Costa e Sousa. Substitute member: Researcher Gonçalo José Monteiro Marques.
Announcement/ notification of the results: The final evaluation results will be communicated to all applicants by e-mail.
Deadlines and procedures of complaint and appeal . A complaint may be lodged from the final decision within 15 working days, or an appeal to the Executive Board of IST-ID within 30 working days, both counted from the respective notification
