Do you have an inquisitive mind and a passion for mathematics? Please apply for a PhD position at Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam.
Job description
The Department of Mathematics of Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam welcomes applications for a fully-funded, 4-year PhD position in Dynamical systems and Algebraic topology. In the study of dynamical systems techniques from both algebraic topology and analysis are indispensable. Algebraic topology uncovers invariant topological properties and bridges local behaviors to global dynamics, and provides a comprehensive toolkit for deciphering the complex behaviors of dynamical systems, offering invaluable insights across multiple scientific disciplines. The research project entails the application of techniques from algebraic topology to subjects in dynamical systems. We are seeking a highly motivated and talented researcher with an affinity for dynamical systems and algebraic topology. The successful candidate will join our dynamic team to lead and conduct groundbreaking research that contributes to our understanding and application of dynamical systems in various contexts. The position is embedded in the Center for Topology and Applications (CTA²). We are an inclusive, interdisciplinary group, and diversity and internationalism is at the heart of our research principles, as well as our teaching practice.
The preferred starting date is 01.09.2024
Applications from all groups currently under-represented in academic posts are especially encouraged. We particularly welcome applications from women and people with an ethnic minority background.
