4 PhD Research Fellow positions for the PhD programme are available at the Department of Economics.

One position will be associated with the project “Principles under pressure? A study of governmental crisis management”, funded by the Research Council of Norway and led by principal investigator Professor Karen Helene Ulltveit-Moe. The primary objective of this project is to provide new knowledge on the nature of economic crises, and on which lessons that can be transferred from one crisis to another. The project aims to provide new knowledge on the effects of crisis policies, and to investigate the scope for improved policy-design. A specific object of research will be to analyze the Covid19 crisis in Norway with a focus on allocation and efficiency and compare this crisis with other crises in the past. 

Two positions will be associated with the project “Model invariance and constancy in the face of large shocks to the Norwegian macroeconomic system”, funded by the Research Council of Norway, led by principal investigator Professor Ragnar Nymoen. A primary objective of this project is to investigate the degree of invariance of model equations used in macro models, with respect to structural breaks during the recent pandemic, as well as in during earlier crisis. 

One position is not linked to specific topics or research projects. Applications from candidates in all fields of economics are encouraged and in particular in fields where the department has a strong research base and supervision capacity.
