Your Role...

This PhD position will be located in the project "Interoception of bodily sensations across organ domains and its relevance for somatic symptoms" (INBODY), co-funded by the Fonds National de la Recherche Luxembourg (FNR) and the Research Foundation Flanders (FWO) (PI: Prof. Dr. André Schulz). The objective of the INBODY project is to investigate organ-specific interoception, its predictive value for the development of physical symptoms, and new interoception-based trainings to reduce symptom distress. The PhD candidate will join the Research Group "Brain-Body-Interaction" and the Clinical Psychophysiology Laboratory (Head: Prof. Dr. André Schulz) within the Department of Behavioural and Cognitive Sciences. Enrolment in the Doctoral School of Social Sciences is obligatory for the candidate.

  • Support of the principal investigator, Prof. Dr. André Schulz, in the administration and management of the project
  • Writing a doctoral thesis in Biological, Clinical and Health Psychology based on original manuscripts published in high quality, peer-reviewed journals

  • Psychological assessment using structured clinical interviews
  • Psychophysiological methods (EEG/ERP, cardiovascular methods)
  • Theories, models and current international research in Biological, Clinical and Health Psychology, and their overlapping concepts

She/he must, therefore, have excellent command of the following languages (written and spoken): German (required for clinical interviews), English (communication within the research group, dissemination), and French (optional). The ability to work as part of a team is essential.
