PhD Studentship

Updated: 3 months ago
Location: Dublin Bar, LEINSTER
Job Type: FullTime
Deadline: 15 Jan 2024

The Lab for Clinical & Integrative Neuroscience (Lab CLINT) aims to advance fundamental knowledge of human brain function and to use this knowledge to help people with psychiatric and neurological disorders. Our research integrates multimodal brain imaging techniques with novel neuromodulation. More specifically, we work to understand the mechanisms of (mal)adaptive plasticity and develop new treatment approaches for different neurological conditions (pain, tinnitus, Parkinson's disease, cognitive impairment) and psychiatric diseases (addiction, OCD, depression).

Lab CLINT of Prof Sven Vanneste at Trinity College Dublin is searching for 2 PhD students to join the team to work on a global, large-scale project funded by The Rainwater Foundation, and in collaboration with universities and institutions globally that form the TIDE Consortium.

The TIDE Consortium aims to develop an objective method for diagnosing tinnitus. By using newly-developed tinnitus-relevant task paradigms, and measuring brain activity using measures such as EEG, the project will collect data across its institutions globally, and aims to use artificial intelligence to identify a biomarker for those who hear tinnitus. The development of a biomarker of tinnitus would be a key step in progressing our understanding of the pathophysiology of tinnitus, and move us forward towards advancing patient management.
