Staff Scientist Position in Mass Spectrometry (f/m/d)

(Ref. 08/2022)

Job description

The mass spectrometry and proteomics technology platform at the FMP consists of an international team of enthusiastic and collaborative scientists, providing MS services to research groups within and outside of the FMP but also highly active in developing novel MS acquisition and analysis strategies. The research scope of the facility includes global quantitative proteome profiling, the identification of post-translational modifications in synthetic peptides and proteins, and cross-linking mass spectrometry. The platform hosts a range of state-of-the-art mass spectrometers, including LTQ-Orbitrap Fusion and Fusion Lumos, equipped with nano-UPLC systems. The successful candidate will work closely with the technical assistants in the facility, the PhD students and postdocs in the Liu lab and at the FMP. He/She needs to ensure optimized operation of the MS instruments, set up proteomics experiments, and assist researchers in interpretation of MS data. The position will be pointed initially for 2 years with the potential to be transferred into a permanent position after positive evaluation.

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) belongs to the „Forschungsverbund Berlin e.V. (FVB)“. The FVB is an institution of seven natural sciences research institutes in Berlin funded by the Federal Republic of Germany and the association of its federal states. The research institutes are members of the Leibniz association.

The Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) is a non-university academic research institute that conducts basic research in molecular pharmacology and provides a vibrant collaborative environment with state-of-the-art facilities for research and employees from all over the world.
