Postdoctoral position in Interaction with Artificial Intelligence
Computer Science
Faculty of Science
University of Copenhagen

We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to work in the intersection of Human-computer Interaction and Artificial Intelligence. At the University of Copenhagen, the researcher will be associated with both the Machine Learning section (Prof. Christian Igel) and Human-centered Computing section (Prof. Kasper Hornbæk).

The researcher will shape which aspects of interaction with AI that will be researched; candidate topics include models of human-AI interaction and collaboration, mixed reality and AI, mutual learning between AIs and people, empirical studies of interaction with AI, and models/studies of integration with cognitive tools. Therefore, extensive knowledge of human-computer interaction, intelligent user interfaces, machine learning, and computational models of interaction is essential. The day-to-day work will be in collaboration with Kasper Hornbæk, and the focus is, therefore, on human-computer interaction.

The position is two years full-time in the Section on Human-centered Computing at the Department of Computer Science, University of Copenhagen (www.di.ku.dk). The University wishes our staff to reflect society's diversity and thus welcomes applications from all qualified candidates regardless of personal background.

Why do a PostDoc at University of Copenhagen?

We offer a research environment with much freedom: to a large extent, you shape the research you work on and the ideas you pursue. The section on Human-centered Computing aspires to be a top research environment for human-computer interaction that bridges technology, theory, and empirical studies; the Machine Learning section is part of the Copenhagen ELLIS unit (ellis.eu ) and the postdoc has the opportunity to be nominated to the ELLIS Postdoc Program; we have a regular presence at CHI, UIST, NeurIPS, etc. and do well in rankings (like www.csrankings.org ). We are located in Copenhagen, consistently recognized as one of the world’s most-livable cities, in the country of Denmark, ranked as one of the top three happiest countries in the world.

(b) Models of interaction with AI, for instance of task delegation or mixed initiative; or

(c) Building prototypes of intelligent user interfaces.

- Publications in top venues (e.g., CHI, NeurIPS, UIST, ICML).
