Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Organic Synthesis

Updated: almost 2 years ago
Deadline: 08 Jun 2022

This is a post-doctoral fellowship opportunity for research on materials intended for formulation for 3D printing resins, particularly in applications as biomaterials. This project aims at the synthesis and characterization of photo-crosslinkable, N-carboxyanhydride-derived polypeptides with pseudoplastic characteristics. It is proposed to synthesize copolymers with architectures that can generate shear-thinning rheological behavior. In addition, photosensitive functionalities, such as acrylate and allyl, will be added to include photo-crosslinking capability. The material is expected to exhibit properties suitable to be applied as a bioink in extrusion-based 3D printing.

Studies will be conducted at the Institute of Chemistry of the University of São Paulo, Brazil.

Priority will be given to candidates who have experience in organic synthesis, rheological techniques, and low angle X-ray scattering (SAXS). It is also expected that the candidate will have production appropriate to his or her career stage, fluency in English, and a PhD completed within seven years.

Applications should be submitted to [email protected] and include: letter of interest, curriculum vitae, and three names/contacts for reference.

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$ 8,479.20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
