Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Endocrinology and Metabolism

Updated: over 2 years ago
Deadline: 17 Dec 2021

The etiology of several diseases involving the reproductive axis, such as central and peripheral precocious puberty, was clarified mainly from the investigation of gene mutations using classical DNA sequencing techniques (Sanger’s method) and more recently large-scale sequencing. Despite the successful results, many diseases associated with activation of the reproductive axis remain with their etiology still unknown, being called idiopathic. More recently, the possibility of epigenetic alterations, including imprinting defects, has been suggested in the etiological elucidation of these conditions.

In the current research project, we will use methods of genetic and epigenetic analysis in large cohorts of patients (500 indices) with disorders characterized by central or peripheral hyperactivation of the reproductive axis, including familial and sporadic central precocious puberty, and peripheral precocious puberty.

The post-doctoral opportunity opened in the current scientific project will require training and skills in the following areas: knowledge in biology, medicine or genetics in humans, DNA sequencing techniques (including next-generation sequencing), copy number variations methods, bioinformatics and techniques of hormonal measurements.

Candidates for one of the two post-doctoral fellowships funded by the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) and awarded within the scope of a Thematic Project (grant number 2019/27631-7) must send their CV to the email address [email protected] .

This opportunity is open to candidates of any nationality. The selected candidate will receive a FAPESP’s Post-Doctoral fellowship in the amount of R$ 7,373.10 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items directly related to the research activity.
