This team applies Operations Research tools and techniques for the design and optimization of production and logistical processes in complex supply chains. Based on a solid expertise in exact and metaheuristic algorithms, integrated optimization and simulation-based solutions are developed. Specifically, the Ph.D. position is open in the research track on the integration of production planning, inventory control and vehicle routing

  • At least 90% of your assignment will be spent on academic research in preparation of a doctoral dissertation. The research will focus on developing smart algorithms for integrated planning of production and distribution processes in supply chains.
  • Occasionally, you will assist in the research team's teaching activities, specifically in master courses on Operations Research and Supply Chain Engineering.
  • You will contribute to the internal and external services of the department.

Job profile
  • You hold a degree of Master of Science in Industrial Engineering, Supply Chain Engineering, Operations Research, Computer Science Engineering, Mathematical Informatics, Business Engineering, or equivalent.
  • You have experience in mathematical modelling of combinatorial optimization problems and implementing solution methods based on exact algorithms and/or (meta)heuristics
  • You are proficient in one or more programming languages (C++, Python, Java, …) and eager to further improve your algorithmic programming skills
  • You are interested in academic and/or project-based research and development.
  • Prior research experience or participation in extra training, conferences, etc. is recommended.
  • Your English is fluent, both speaking and writing. Knowledge of Dutch is considered a plus.
  • You have excellent teaching and communication skills.

Offer
