As part of an international consortium of experts in immuno-oncology, the laboratory of Biochemistry at Ghent University's Faculty of Veterinary Medicine recently obtained a grant for a prestigious and EU-funded project that focuses on ameliorating the immunotherapeutic efficacy in triple-negative breast cancer patients. The project received the acronym MAGNOLIA, which stands for MAppinG adaptatioN Of tripLe negative breast cancer microenvironments to ImmunotherApy. The laboratory of Biochemistry will contribute to the project by identifying novel immunotherapeutic targets through the use of relevant mouse model for triple-negative breast cancer and multi-omics analyses. The project work will be incorporated in a Joint PhD with the Jules Bordet Institute (Université Libre de Bruxelles, ULB). PhD candidates will have the chance to work in a rapidly evolving field with high clinical need for better therapies, and will have the ability to gain additional experience in the labs of our international project partners (situated in Canada, France and Germany).
