PhD position in Neurosciences

Applications are invited for a PhD position for a bright and highly motivated student in the Department of Neurosciences at KU Leuven University. The candidate will work with Prof. Koen Nelissen on a joint project with Profs. Vanduffel, Vogels and Haesler, investigating the neuronal mechanisms causing perceptual learning of biological actions and associated adult brain plasticity in non-human primates.

The project involves state-of-the-art functional imaging and electrophysiology, in combination with behavioral and reversible perturbation techniques. Candidates are expected to have a Master degree in Neuroscience, Biomedical Sciences, Medicine, Physics, Computer Sciences or related fields. Experience with functional MRI and/or electrophysiology data acquisitions/analysis and proficient programming skills (matlab) are highly advantageous. Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written) are essential.

We offer a PhD position in a stimulating research environment for an initial period of one year, with an additional three year period upon positive evaluation. Starting date is flexible. Salary is in accordance with Belgian regulations.

KU Leuven is one of the oldest and most renowned universities in Europe. It is based in Leuven, a historic and lively student town, situated close to Brussels and less than 2 hours from London, Paris and Amsterdam.
