The Department of Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Pharmaceutical, Biomedical and Veterinary Sciences is looking for a full-time doctoral scholarship holder in the field of Ferroptosis.

“BLOCKING ISCHEMIA REPERFUSION INJURY USING LEAD FERROPTOSIS INHIBITORS”

Position

• You prepare a doctoral thesis in the field of ferroptosis in kidney/liver ischemia-reperfusion injury.
• You publish scientific articles related to the research project of the assignment.
• You contribute to the research in the Vanden Berghe lab .

Profile

• You hold a master degree in Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Pharmacy or (Bio)Medicine or equivalent;
• You can submit outstanding academic results;
• Foreign candidates are encouraged to apply;
• Your academic qualities comply with the requirements stipulated in the university’s policy .
• You are quality-oriented, conscientious, creative and cooperative.
• You have a strong motivation and have good oral and written communication skills.
• Holding a FELASA certificate for handling laboratory animals is an asset.
• experience with cell death research, molecular biological techniques and in vivo work are an advantage.

What we offer

• We offer a doctoral scholarship for a period of two years. Following a positive evaluation, the scholarship can be renewed once for another two-year period.
• The planned start date is 1 October 2021 or as soon as possible after that date.
• Your monthly scholarship amount is calculated according to the scholarship amounts for doctoral scholarship holders on the pay scales for Contract Research Staff (Dutch: Bijzonder Academisch Personeel, BAP).
• You will work in a dynamic and stimulating working environment.
