Wharton Digital Marketing Manager


Position Summary

Plans, develops, and executes all digital marketing, including SEO/SEM, marketing database, social media, and display advertising campaigns for Wharton Center. Responsible for planning, designing, building, and maintaining our social media presence. Develops strategies for promoting Wharton Center and sharing stories via digital means. Measures and reports the performance of all digital marketing campaigns and assesses against goals (ROI and KPIs). Creates and executes digital campaigns which could include paid search, display, retargeting, IP targeting, and paid social media advertising. Develops and monitors digital campaign budgets. Develops and edits content for digital promotional materials. Negotiates and places advertising with a wide variety of media advertising sources. Prepares and submits ads on schedule. Builds Digital Marketing team to assist in meeting these objectives.

Evaluates emerging technologies. Identifies trends and insights and optimizes spend and performance based on the insights. Brainstorms new and creative growth strategies. Plans, executes, and measures experiments and conversion tests. Takes photographs and videos as well as editing and producing video footage for marketing purposes.

Represents the Department and University at meetings, civic functions, local and regional business organizations, professional associations, and related groups. May provide first-level supervision over regular and student employees.


Unit Specific Education/Experience/Skills

Knowledge equivalent to that which normally would be acquired by completing a four-year college degree program in Journalism, Telecommunications, or Public Relations; one to three years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in public and media relations, composing, editing and publication production, news, broadcasting, and print media, and/or marketing, advertising, and creative services; graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology; experience managing content for social media channels; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.


Desired Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or a related field.
  • 5+ years of related and progressively more responsible or expansive work experience in Digital Marketing experience.
  • Proficient in graphic design; word processing; desktop publishing; web design; presentation; spreadsheet and/or database software; public presentation; or radio production; or computer programming/technology.
  • Experience managing content for social media channels.
  • Strong analytical, writing, verbal, and visual communication skills required.
  • Proficient in Social media management systems, i.e., Sprinklr, Facebook Business Manager, Instagram for business, TikTok and other social media platforms; Google Adwords campaigns.
  • Proficient Adobe programs, video editing software, and content management systems.
  • Interest in the performing arts.
  • Must be available to work nights and weekends as needed.
