The Veterinary Medical Teaching Hospital (VMTH) provides the highest standard of total veterinary care for your beloved animal patients while helping train the next generation of veterinarians. The Veterinary Technician II in Food Animal Medicine, Surgery and Field Services will provide support to clinicians, residents, and interns by instructing veterinary students in appropriate clinical techniques and by delivering excellent patient care through an encouraging environment. Successful candidates will have a desire to learn new skills. The veterinary field is always evolving, and this position allows you to further develop and advance your skills. Add any specialty service information as applicable.

Shift differential pay is available for eligible shifts. There are opportunities for career ladder advancement and for licensed veterinary technicians to work towards specialty certification. The Blinn College Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH. There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH. 


Qualifications 


Minimum qualifications: Associate degree in veterinary technology, biomedical science, animal science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience. Two years technical experience in veterinary medicine. 

Preferred Qualifications: One year experience in a Large Animal Veterinary medical setting and certification as a Licensed Veterinary Technician.

Salary Range: $20.04 - $22.04


Work Schedule: Candidates should have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty; ability to work around animals, hay, or dust.


Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
