The Veterinary Technician I will support our Equine Orthopedic Surgery team at Texas A&M Large Animal Hospital. Our technicians are trained to be the power behind triage and patient care. Successful candidates will play an absolute vital role in the care of our patients alongside our faculty veterinarians, residents, interns, and 4th year professional veterinary students. This role will have the opportunity to work around a multitude of species including, horses, cattle, sheep, goats, pigs, llamas, alpacas, camels, and the occasional reindeer. This position is crucial in helping guide, teach, and mentor veterinarians of our future. Shift differential pay is available for eligible shifts. There is opportunity for career ladder advancement as well as opportunity for licensed veterinary technicians to work towards specialty certification. The Blinn Veterinary Technology Program is housed in the same building as the VMTH. There are flexible work schedules for evening, overnight and weekend shifts in some service areas of the VMTH.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications for an entry level include: Associate degree in Veterinary Technology, Biomedical Science, Animal Science or a related area, or any equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Certification as a Registered Veterinary Technician, Horse handling experience and skills, one year of experience in a veterinary medical setting with general understanding of equipment used in a veterinary teaching hospital.

Salary Range: $19.11 - $21.02
Work Schedule: The position is Monday - Friday and candidates must have the ability to work alternative shifts, holidays, weekends, and on-call duty. Must have the ability to work around animals, hay, or dust. Ability to move heavy loads.
Essential Personnel: This position is considered essential when the University declares an emergency, campus closure, class cancellations, etc., and are therefore required to report to work and remain on duty unless or until relieved by their direct supervisor.
