Position Summary
The Director of VCR Finance (DVCRF) is an integral member of the senior leadership team and reports directly to the Vice Chancellor for Research (VCR). The Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research (OVCR) is comprised of approximately 13 org units and 191 full time employees which provides the opportunity to work with the Associate Vice Chancellor’s for Clinical Research & Basic Science, and other leading physicians and academics. The (DVCRF) leads the effort to establish a financial engagement and support function for OVCR to align financial strategy, plans, shared services and investments with research and business priorities. The DVCRF oversees the detailed financial analysis (financial pro forma modeling, sensitivity analysis, valuation impacts, etc.) on all strategic partnership and growth opportunities to identify key drivers, and business and financial assumptions for all units within the OVCR and that would align with those of the University Office of Budget and Financial Compliance. The DVCRF manages statistical data analysis in the area of finance and compliance in order to understand trends in research funding, research productivity and economic data. The DVCRF will provide financial oversight of OVCR, including the Office of Regulatory Affairs (ORA) IRB & IACUC, Regenerative Medicine, Sponsored Programs Administration, Research Resources, Information Technology Office, and Research centers reporting to the OVCR. This position is responsible for leading the medium and long- range business planning to enable the strategic growth of the research portfolio and its research administration by the OVCR. This position collaboratively works with a range of university offices, foundations, colleges, Institutes and affiliates in particular the Provost Office, and Budget Analysis and Financial Compliance, Sponsored Programs Accounting & Administration.

Preferred Experience:
A minimum of five years of managerial/supervisory experience in an academic institution preferred
Comprehensive administrative finance and computing experience in a complex systems environment.
Experience with university research core facilities or recharge centers.
Demonstrated experience: working in teams with others, including systems analysts, programmers, accountants, subject matter experts and managers.
Broad knowledge of financial business systems analysis and the ability to apply principles, practices, procedures and complete complex assignments based on these areas.
Demonstrated project management, organizational, time management skills and the ability to balance competing priorities from multiple requester s.
Demonstrated ability to conduct independent data analysis.
Strong project management skills, with the ability to run multiple strategic initiatives end-to-end while engaging with multiple internal / external stakeholders.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills, with ability to deploy framework thinking and business judgment to make complex decisions.
Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with OVCR leadership and staff and university affiliates, often with work of a confidential nature.
