FedPoint is seeking a UX Research intern to join our team for a summer and/or a semester. You will join a driven UX Design and Analytics team focused on building exceptional online platforms and experiences that enable more than 6 million federal employees, military, and their family members to manage their benefits. You will gain experience in qualitative and quantitative research methodologies, software, and tools, and work closely with industry professionals. Specifically, you will design and conduct user research, synthesize your findings with other data sources, and deliver actionable insights for the team to implement to improve our customers' online experience.
This position is largely remote with periodic visits to our headquarters in Portsmouth, NH for onboarding and key team meetings. Our offices underwent a complete renovation in early 2024 and are equipped with state-of-the-art team collaboration rooms, a café with full breakfast/lunch service, gym, noise dampening open concept floor plan, and quiet study areas throughout. Plus, natural walking trails and easy access with plenty of parking. Fully remote may also be considered in some circumstances.
About the Team/Department:
The Digital Platforms and User Experience department is responsible for directing the overall design and feature roadmaps that deliver exceptional user experiences for FedPoint's portfolio of customer-facing self-service websites taking into account a balanced combination of customer/client needs, business/revenue objectives, compliance requirements, and industry best practices. Conducting user research and delivering user analysis with actionable insights is a core department function to enable the successful delivery of these objectives.

Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with UX Design, Data Analytics, and Customer Service to gain insight into the goals and needs of platform users.
- Help conduct generative and evaluative research.
- Write research screeners, interview guides and/or unmoderated study questions.
- Conduct user interviews and/or facilitate unmoderated UX studies.
- Synthesize research and build report-outs that communicate insights, helping others understand the needs of our users.
Qualifications:
- Rising Junior or Senior, or a graduate student, with completed studies in human-centered design, human-computer interaction, qualitative research, user experience, psychology, behavioral science, anthropology, sociology, or similar.
- A portfolio showing a foundation of user research practices (class projects and adjacent work welcome, provided you can demonstrate your research process and understanding of key principles of qualitative research)
- Attention to detail, analytical, data-driven, and focused on end-user needs
- Passionate about research, design, and utilizing research/data-informed decision making to improve customer experience
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
