We are growing our Digital Experience team and looking for UX Designer who can add value to the work our team delivers. The UX Designer works closely and builds consensus with key stakeholders from across the organization to continually iterate, analyze and improve the online scheduling experience for patients. They will also be able to identify, grow and nurture key audiences, emphasizing the quality of our services across our digital experiences.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

UX Designer Strategy and Implementation:
• Spearhead design and data-based solutions by using the latest design practices and methods.
• Deliver action-oriented design solutions to improve online access to care.
• Focus on the smaller details and tune in to nuances while being aware of the big picture.
• Set priorities while working to meet deadlines.
• Act as a passionate advocate for our patients throughout the planning and the development process.
• Demonstrate how excellent and accessible user experience leads to customer satisfaction that delivers business value and KPIs. Use qualitative and quantitative data from user research, A/B testing and business analysis to design accessible, reliable, usable, and intuitive solutions across web, mobile web, and applications.
• Use low and high-fidelity designs, user flows and information architecture to inform, communicate and test data-based designs that are development ready.
• Create, implement, and iterate strategies and roadmaps to provide the foundation for UX work at UW Medicine.
• Understand the business goals behind initiatives and tie these to tangible goals and outcomes to measure UX designs successes.
• Prioritize work that balances short-term and longer-term benefits and focuses appropriately on the highest-value opportunities.
• Evaluate industry best practices and approaches to identify opportunities and encourage innovation.
• Work with users and stakeholders throughout UW Medicine to identify pain points and advocate for improvement.
• Use inclusive Design Thinking and Journey Mapping workshop sessions to bring stakeholders together.
• Promote best practices internally for areas including human-centered design and research.
• Work closely with the researchers, content strategists, development, and web publishing throughout the sprint lifecycle and sign-off on release decisions.
• Performs related duties and other tasks as assigned.

Business Knowledge:
• Partner with the business owner to create the user stories and acceptance criteria for the iterative design delivery in the Agile Scrum process.
• Maintain the digital style guide used to ensure consistency across websites and apps owned by the UW Medicine Strategic Marketing and Communications team.
• Partner with the Creative team to ensure brand compliance when adapting UI elements and meet accessibility standards and interaction patterns unique to digital form factors.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in design, marketing and communications, sociology, computer science or a related discipline and at least 3 years of experience.

Additional requirements:
• Proven experience with visual and interaction design, information architecture and optimizing UX/UI for websites and applications.
• Experience organizing and executing user research.
• Advanced working knowledge of building onto and managing a design system.
• Strong understanding of usability best practices such as usability heuristics, accessibility, and the latest accessible solutions.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills, with an exceptional ability to communicate verbally and visually complicated concepts simply and clearly.
• Experience making and advocating for UX strategy recommendations.
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite and Figma, or equivalent software.
• Solid knowledge of HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and experience working closely with development teams.
• Ability to develop trust, partnership, and client service skills across an organization.
• A/B testing experience.

Equivalent education and/or experience may substitute for minimum requirements.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Healthcare, education, or nonprofit experience
• Experience using analytics software such as Google Analytics, Site Improve, MOZ Pro and Foresee.
