This full-time staff position reports to the Director of Undergraduate Advising and provides advising services for the undergraduate students at the Business School.  These advising services help those students progress towards obtaining a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with one or more of 12 different majors.  This position is expected to provide excellent customer service when working with our internal and external customers and develops and promotes outreach activities for enrolled students to retain current students and increase enrolled and graduation numbers.

What you will do:
  • General Advising Duties
    • Advise undergraduate Business School students: monitor the graduation progress for students to ensure they take the correct courses in the correct sequence to ensure a timely graduation, create DATC forms to correct any audit errors based on transfer credits, host in-person/phone/Zoom advising appointments, respond to emails, visits, and phone calls from students in a timely fashion, share advising load of 1800+ students.
    • As part of the advising team, conduct orientations for newly admitted students – conduct presentations at those orientation sessions.
    • Responsible for working with the team of advisors and discipline directors to process petitions, complete waivers, process MGMT 4500 Capstone applications and enroll students in Canvas shell, process study abroad documents, identify and assist students with hold resolution, staff Express & Group Advising sessions, instruct workshops, present in UNIV1110 sections, connect with Early Alert students, identify need for catalog updates, resolve discrepancies in Degree Audit, help train new advisors and peer advisors regarding the policies and procedures, and check semester course schedules
    • As part of the campus team: help plan and attend Fall and Spring commencement ceremony, complete the initial graduation audit, certify graduates each semester, and designate honors, develop graduation plans for Project Graduate applicants, review applications for Reisher Scholars, send academic standing letters, remove students from courses when suspended, enroll in Academic Success Module,
    • As part of the advising team, utilize systems such as Civitas Inspire, Degree Audit, CU SIS, Slate, OnBase, etc. ensure the success of our students; provide input to update shared drive, policy manual, degree plans and degree maps.
    • Collaborate with the Business School’s Career Center to create a seamless transition regarding career discussions.
  • Retention:
    • Along with other members of the Student Success team monitor and track student retention and other success benchmarks as needed and assigned.
    • Assist with events and other learning opportunities that support students in reaching their academic and career goals.
    • Collaborate with faculty and staff in developing academic success and advising resources including, but not limited to, online and print resources.
    • Participate in retention activities both inside and outside of the school.
    • Plan special events to build community among enrolled students.
  • Other Responsibilities
    • Attend and work commencement ceremonies – student check-in!
    • Develop and attend select recruitment events.

o   Represent the Business School in various campus committees as needed.

o   Other duties may be assigned.  


Compensation and Benefits

  Entry Level

Salary/Hiring Range for this position has been established at $50,000 - $53,000.

Intermediate Level

Salary/Hiring Range for this position has been established at $53,000 - $55,000.

Senior Level

Salary/Hiring Range for this position has been established at $55,000 - $58,000.

  This position is not eligible for overtime compensation.

Qualifications you already possess (Minimum Qualifications)

Entry Level

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

  Intermediate Level

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

  • One year of experience in customer service

Senior Level

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, business, public administration, health care, educational technology, social science, liberal arts, communications, accounting, finance, library science, or a directly related field from an accredited institution.

    • Substitution: A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.

  • ·       2 years of experience working directly with students in advising in a higher education environment

  Preferred Qualification to possess (Preferred Qualifications)

  • One - three years of additional professional experience in a higher education environment

  • Experience working with undergraduate student population.

  • Knowledge of Business School advising policies

  • Experience working with international students.

  • Demonstrated success working with a CRM, Student Information System, CU SIS, Degree Audit System, Outlook, Teams, and shared drives.

  Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.

  • Speak in front of small or large groups.

  • Ability to effectively collaborate and work effectively with a diverse population of faculty and staff, various departments, prospective and current students and parents, educators, alumni, industry leaders, donors, and individuals at all organizational levels.
