Posting Summary
Rutgers The State University is seeking a Temporary Research Assistant in the Brain Health Institute of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.
This is a full-time laboratory assistant position for 40 hours per week. The laboratory assistant will conduct behavioral experiments in Gerbils to study the neural mechanisms of auditory-decision-making. This position may require some weekend work.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
  • Train gerbils and run behavioral experiments to assess the neural mechanisms of auditory decision making.
  • Carry out post-experiment processing of brain tissue.
  • Assist with microscopy and anatomical analysis of processed brain tissue.
  • Perform auditory and visual manipulations in developing gerbils.
  • Maintains accurate records of experimentation and research.
  • Assists with computer data entry and analysis.
  • Understands and adheres to Rutgers’ compliance standards as they appear in RBHS’s Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Qualifications


Minimum Education and Experience
  • Enrolled in an undergraduate program for one of the following fields: psychology, biology, neuroscience, or other related field.
Certifications/Licenses
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Basic computer skills (data entry/organization).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous animal handling experience is desirable.
