Salary range: The 9-month salary and level of appointment are based on qualifications and UC pay scale. A reasonable salary range estimate for this position is $64,349 - $70,295. Position description

THE DEPARTMENT O F CHEMISTRY & BIOCHEMISTRY within the School of Physical Sciences at UC San Diego seeks to establish a pool of outstanding instructors for undergraduate courses in all areas of chemistry. All areas of chemistry and biochemistry will be considered.

Responsibilities entail the effective instruction of students, teaching classes in accordance with course objectives and published schedules, advising students on academic matters and maintaining an active interest in the advances/current thinking in their subject area.

Qualifications
Basic qualifications (required at time of application)

Applicants must have or be a candidate for a PhD in Chemistry or related field.

Additional qualifications (required at time of start)

Ph.D. must be awarded prior to the start of the teaching quarter in order for an offer of employment to be made.

Preferred qualifications

Research experience, two supportive letters of references, strong record of mentorship, teaching experience in both lecture and laboratory-based settings, and a commitment to diversity, equity and inclusion are highly desirable .
