Teaching Soundstage Manager

Manage day-to-day operations of Teaching Soundstage facilities and technology for Tisch School of the Arts, a full-service production facility which includes a professional sound stage with state-of-the-art technology. Develop and implement operational and creative policies and practices to ensure student productions run smoothly and successfully and that the safety and security of faculty, students, facilities, and technology is realized. Design and conduct technical workshops and seminars in response to and adapted to meet faculty and students' needs; ensure training is consistent with established industry and School curricular standards and related film technologies. Advise students on productions; serve as resource expert recommending production options to students and resolving complex problems. Supervise full- and part-time technical support and student employees. This position consists of an evening work schedule.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Education:
Bachelor's Degree in film and television.
Required Experience:
2+ years of film or video production facility operations management, budget administration, and staff supervision experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Preferred Experience:
2+ years of experience in an academic and/or production environment.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication and project management skills. Ability to communicate policies and procedures to individuals at all levels and use problem solving and negotiating skills. Ability to direct, evaluate and implement a variety of operations and activities, and a proficiency in office computer technology. Proficiency with a wide range of film/digital production technologies including experience with digital and motion picture cameras, lighting and grip and support including 16mm, 35mm, DSLR, HD and SD, safe rigging practices, dollies/jibs, DMX controls, power distribution, basic interior and exterior set design/carpentry skills including experience with table saw, miter saw, jigsaw, circular saw. Ability to lift 50 lbs and climb 1 to 12 foot ladders is required. Proficiency in troubleshooting, basic electrical and grip spot repairs , basic soldering skills. Experience with 16mm, 35mm and digital projection and ordering lab services. Basic knowledge of mics, audio mixing consoles, patch bays and digital technology, hardware and software.
Preferred Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Knowledge of current and emerging technologies (e.g., digital and analog film and television technologies).

In compliance with NYC's Pay Transparency Act, the annual base salary range for this position is USD $64,800.00 to USD $79,200.00. New York University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as, market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. This pay range represents base pay only and excludes any additional items such as incentives, bonuses, clinical compensation, or other items.
