Position Summary and Duties
The Summer Program Assistant is a temporary, 10 week full-time role that will serve as the Loyola University Maryland’s York Road Initiative’s primary point of contact for its partnership with the Baltimore Office for the Promotion of the Arts’ Art at Work Program. They will also support professional development activities for all Youthworks summer jobs program students, including arranging financial literacy, career development, and other life skills workshops. They will also support the YRI Associate Director in administering the York Road Summer Youth Neighborhood Fund Program.
1. Logistics Support for BOPA Art at Work Program
The Program Assistant will serve as YRI’s primary point of contact to staff of the Baltimore Office for the Promotion of Arts. Support needs will include providing youth transportation, meals support, technology support, and time entry collection and submission. The Program Assistant will be on-site with the program at times during the YouthWorks program hours (25 hours a week between July 10-August 11) plus office-based hours. the Program Assistant will spend the month of June onboarding with YRI and preparing for the summer (including attending the Art at Work Parent Engagement meeting).
2.Coordination of Summer Youth Professional Development Workshops
The Program Assistant will be the point of contact for Loyola University of Maryland faculty and staff delivering professional development workshops to all YRI YouthWorks students (Art at Work and the Govans Farmer’s Market) throughout the YouthWorks program period Topics include, but are not limited to: financial literacy, career and life skills). They may also deliver workshops as needed.
3.Administrative Support for Opportunity Youth Neighborhood Fund Grantees
Support YRI’s Associate Director in working with youth-focused neighborhood small grant program awardees. Support work could include: conducting site visits, arranging an end of summer grantee meeting, and creating program evaluation materials.
4.Summer Youth Program Activity Dissemination and Reporting
Participate in the creation of external project communication materials for YRI summer youth initiatives that can be used by YRI team members, such as presentations for funders, boards, and conferences. May assist CCSJ/YRI Leadership Team with drafting small sections for federal grant reporting.
Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role. Must complete an employer-administered CIJS background check and take Loyola University Maryland’s child safety training.
Required Qualifications
Minimum high school diploma or equivalency.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with community-based programs and/or youth programs preferred. Resourceful, creative thinker, with confidence to achieve impactful results. Proficient with Microsoft Office and databases. Ability to work with diverse populations, with strong sensitivity to racial, cultural and economic diversity. Ability to communicate with clarity, tact and diplomacy with a variety of people, and when dealing with the public, in a balanced way. Ability to support the mission and values of a Catholic Jesuit education, as well as University goals for institutional diversity. Valid driver’s license preferred.
