Under broad supervision, support the accounting, reporting, and financial functions of the department and provide support to the Academic Affairs budget managers. You will play a critical role as you assist in providing budgetary analysis during the annual budgetary process and on an ongoing basis.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities

  • Support the budget development and conduct research and analysis as needed during the annual budget process.
  • Prepare monthly variance reports for budget vs. actuals and provide financial analysis and forecast.
  • Perform budget vs actual reconciliations.
  • Analyze financial data including enrollment data, program break-even analysis, contract review process and prepare summary reports.
  • Process budget change requests and prepare GL journal entries. Set up new accounts as needed and create ad-hoc reports or analysis, as needed.
  • Support the GL semester and year-end closing process including preparation of deferrals and accruals.
  • Update and maintain Workday role assignments for users in Academic Affairs.
  • Process purchase and payment approvals in Workday.
  • Quickly become well versed in the university policies and procedures to ensure compliance across the assigned colleges.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Requisite Qualifications

  • Typically a Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Finance, related field or equivalent experience. Incumbent will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to keep abreast of finance and planning regulation/policy changes and best practices.
  • Minimum 3 years finance or accounting experience in progressively responsible positions which have included accounts payable/receivable functions, purchasing, contract review, and budget analysis.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the areas of accounting principles, variance reporting, and forecasting.
  • Exemplary communication skills (both written and oral) evidenced by background in investigations, preparing comprehensive reports including statistical analysis, and executive summaries incorporating complex highly technical information.
  • Highly developed organizational and analytic skills.
  • Demonstrated general computer competency and preferably knowledgeable of Workday financial systems.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including using functions such as VLOOKUP, IF statements, Pivot Tables, and more.

Salary range

$66,560.00 - $75,200.00 Salary commensurate with education and experience.
