Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit

The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Nursing has been the leader in nursing education in North Carolina throughout its history. Established in 1950, it was the first school of nursing in North Carolina to offer a four-year baccalaureate nursing degree program followed by the first master’s degree program, the first continuing education program for nurses, first doctoral program, and first accelerated BSN option to students with college degrees. Position Summary
The Center for Virtual Care Value and Equity (ViVE) PI: Dr. Saif Khairat is seeking a highly motivated Summer Research Intern for summer 2024. As a Summer Research Intern, you will get the unique opportunity to engage in cutting-edge research projects in telehealth, health equity, and health informatics, while learning from top mentors and professionals within the field. This position is 100% remote.
Key Responsibilities include (but are not limited to) the following:
-Conducting literature reviews and background research to support the project initiatives
-Assisting in executing experiments and data collection
-Analyze qualitative and quantitative data and present findings in a clear, concise manner
-Collaborate with team members to further the project’s initiatives
-Write reports of findings
-Interview subjects about their experiences with telehealth
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Current MS, MPH, or PhD student within public health or closely related fields
-Strong academic background
-Experience with research methodologies, data analysis, data collection, and experimental design
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
-Preferred: PYTHON, R, MATLAB, SPSS, or other statistical software experience
