The Department of Computer Science is seeking applications for a full-time Student Services Professional. This position is primarily responsible for a wide range of student services in the Department of Computer Science. Work involves exercising discretion, analytical skill and personal accountability to the department chair and a large full-time and part-time faculty. This position makes decisions in organizing and establishing processes to implement and improve the graduate student experience; independently resolving problems as they arise and exercising a high level of judgement through independent thought and decision-making. The Specialist is a member of internal and campus teams and committees relevant to the position, and as assigned by the Department Chair.

Job Duties:

  • Serves as primary point of contact for prospective and current CS students.
  • Responds to program and department inquires, communicates department activities, and provides relevant guidance and recommendations to students and faculty regarding undergraduate and graduate programs.
  • Guides prospective students through the application process and assists admitted students with registration, student forms, and/or other logistical issues.
  • Coordinates with Admissions office and program directors to process graduate applications.
  • Initiates and maintains communication with students, faculty, and staff regarding program information and updates.
  • Collaborates with faculty and staff to inform policy, procedure and process regarding graduate student needs and outcomes.
  • Responsible for the administration of and compliance with all graduate policies and procedures.
  • Manages intercampus enrollment and transfer credit processes for CS graduate students, and undergraduate student petitions transfers as necessary.
  • Establishes, maintains, and monitors graduate student records from application through graduation; implements actions as appropriate (e.g., probationary status letters).
  • Monitor student enrollment and assist with potential issues that deter enrollment.
  • Maintains student policies and department level student and program files.
  • Prepares and analyzes course and projected course reports, class lists, student evaluations and alumni data.
  • Facilitates exit interviews for undergraduate and graduate students each semester.
  • Provides support and communication to student organizations and faculty advisors.
  • Works with CS chair, faculty, staff and relevant campus personnel to achieve unit goals related to student services.
  • Participates in college and university fairs, information sessions, webinars, and open houses.
  • Assists with a variety of special projects in relation to strategy, development and assessment of educational programs.
  • Assist with data collection for reports and surveys regarding enrollment and statistical data for department accreditation and program assessment.
  • Monitors and schedules undergraduate and graduate student advising with faculty as necessary.
  • Serve as backup in the absence of Academic Services Professional.
  • Other duties as assigned.

This position has been determined to be exempt from the overtime provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

What We Offer:

Salary Range: Generally starting at $39,000 - 50,127 per year

The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

Tentative Search Timeline:

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A bachelor’s degree in education, business administration, management, communications, or a related field, from an accredited institution.

  • 2 years of experience with program coordination, business operations, or administrative support

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with maintaining compliance with complex rules, contracts, regulations and/or accreditation standards.

  • Experience with creation of complex schedules and reports.

  • Experience working in a higher education setting

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit. Employee is occasionally required to move. Tasks may involve using a computer screen continuously for long periods of time. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
