Description
We are looking for a Graduate Assistant who is detail oriented, works well with others, and has experience in customer service, event coordination and planning, as well as strong communication skills. This person will be a professional self-starter that can provide general administrative support and should be able to work on special projects, promotion of special events through various forms of social media and helping to create marketing materials for the office with relative independence.

  • Respond to emails, phone calls and walk-in customers accordingly.
  • Handle specific daily operations of the Student Services office including, but not limited to: tracking commonly-used forms and responding accordingly, processing student club questions and event requests, managing student requests for reimbursement of student activities-related funds, etc.
  • Handle weekly tasks, as assigned, including: managing access to digital groups and spaces, developing content for digital signs, e-newsletters, and social media, as well as supporting other logistical and/or marketing activities for events
  • Work with incoming students leading up to and during new student orientation, including working on the new student course via Canvas, developing and managing distribution of Welcome Week schedules, designing and leading community-building exercises—often in partnership with other campus departments, communicate daily via MIcommunity
  • Ongoing project-based work as requested

  • Experience working in an office-setting, including comfort responding to emails, live customer support via chat, in-person, phone or Zoom
  • High attention to detail
  • Proven project and time management skills

  • Desire to support the student body and student life at the Institute
  • Experience working in a peer-to-peer setting in higher ed
  • Marketing / design skills, familiarity using Canva or willingness to learn; experience using social media for business purposes
  • Online course design or management experience
