This announcement is open to all qualified candidates that are interested in applying.  NPS is a military, graduate, teaching, and research university. NPS faculty have made fundamental contributions to national security by bridging basic and applied research to meet the defense and national security needs of the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD), the U.S. Department of the Navy (DON), the U.S. defense establishment, and America’s allies. NPS furnishes trusted technical and operational advice to the military and host tenant research organizations and provides experimental and demonstration platforms for dealing with a wide variety of exigent military problems. The university conducts both unclassified and classified research to equip military officers and DOD civilian personnel with a superior graduate education. NPS has recently ushered in major transformational improvements across campus; reorganizing and refocusing to execute its mission. This transformation has resulted in a renewed partnership with the Uniform Services University to deliver modeling and simulation education to DOD healthcare professionals, which leads to a need for an additional Senior Lecturer in the Modeling & Simulation Healthcare Certificate Program.   

 

NPS is searching for a strong, forward-looking candidate to serve as a Senior Lecturer in the M&S Healthcare Certificate Program. In this position, you will provide critical instruction to healthcare professionals as part of the Modeling, Virtual Environments, and Simulation (MOVES) Institute faculty.  Under the guidance of the Director of MOVES and Director of the Healthcare M&S Certificate, the Senior Lecturer in this position is responsible for assisting in the delivery NPS’ graduate education in the Healthcare M&S Certificate Program.

 

Senior Lecturer Responsibilities Include :

Summary: a senior lecturer teaches subjects offered by MOVES; may supervise and evaluate theses and dissertations; maintains currency in the discipline, to meet DoN needs, and to provide student research topics; provides expert disciplinary advice to entities in DoN and DoD; provides some academic service to NPS; and serves the broader academic community. 

 

Duties: Senior Lecturer

 

  • prepares and teaches assigned courses and seminars in residence, off campus, on-line, or afloat, as necessary;
  • may conduct scholarly research and disseminate those results, through peer- reviewed or other means;
  • may advise student theses;
  • assists in the design and development of courses and curricula as required;
  • advises students on academic matters;

 

Scope of Duties :  Senior lecturers assist the academic enterprise at the department, school, and campus level, and have off-campus impacts through services offered to DoN activities, DoD activities, and professional organizations. Senior Lecturers engage with students who are located at duty stations across the world as well as at Monterey. 

 

Required Qualifications 

Education :

  • Graduate degree in the medical field or related areas Masters degree minimum, with R.N., Ph.D., or M.D. preferred.

 

Experience :

  • Minimum five years’ experience in modeling and simulation or related fields.
  • Evidence of excellent teaching
