EH&S Student Assistant - Support EH&S compliance with federal, state, and local environmental and occupational regulations and requirements. Job requires some lifting.

Full Job Description:

As an intern of the Office of Environmental Health and Safety, you would get a first hand look at how the school works to remain in compliance with California and Federal Environmental Protection Agency guidelines, as well as an understanding of how waste is managed in an ecologically responsible fashion. An intern at EH&S would work closely with the Office of Sustainability to coordinate on campus environmental education events, as well as maintain the paperwork associated with OSHA regulations and other safety issues. 

Interns would receive the OSHA HAZWOPER (Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response) training in preparation for any first response of a hazardous waste emergency on campus. In office work and records keeping, interns would accustom themselves with the actions necessary to remain in compliance with the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, as well as the motions necessary to implement and amend our schools Spill Prevention Control and Countermeasure Plan. It is an opportunity to acclimate oneself with the field of Environmental Health and Safety, a position of risk management at institutions across the spectrum of study. 

Required Qualifications: Facility with software applications (e.g. MSWord, Excel, etc.) Some lifting required.

Preferred Qualifications: Work Study preferred.
