Strategic Planning Associate - Strategy - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Exempt) (Non-Union)

Reporting to the Associate Administrator of Strategic Planning and Business Development, the Strategic Planning Associate will work as part of a cross-functional Strategic Planning team to evaluate, analyze and develop recommendations on strategy and business opportunities for Keck Medicine of USC. The position is responsible for developing data analyses, market assessments, business and strategic plans including development and expansion of enterprise's regional and ambulatory strategy, plus physician/medical group affiliations/acquisitions. The role will perform data analysis, interpretation of the analysis' results, and author related reports by utilization various data sources (e.g Strata, Clarify Health, Sg2, Vizient, Advisory Board, HCAi, Qlik, Tableau and Maptitude business intelligence applications) and analysis techniques to support business practices and evaluate potential strategic planning / growth opportunities. Individual will work with management to obtain and identify analytical requirements, annually refresh key data resources, plus compile and analyze data obtained from numerous information systems while employing the judgment necessary to ensure data accuracy and applicability of the conclusions. Data may include analysis of market, hospital, patient quality data, plus hospital or physician related finances. Data and financial analyses uses proper statistical methods, develops high impact presentations and visualizations of conclusions, and researches best practices, develops targets/goals for business endeavors, and provides metrics to communicate management and executive leadership. Develops a variety of reporting tools for distribution. Provides input into decisions affecting business operations and strategic initiatives'. Provides consulting and project management support as needed.

Essential Duties:

  • Consolidates, analyzes, and models data across multiple platforms, including Sg2, HCAi, and Clarify Health, to assist with relevant business decisions and planning.
  • Under supervision of Associate Administrator of Strategic Planning, provides and authors insight and guidance related to strategic planning initiatives and business development.
  • Responsible for developing data analyses, market assessments, business and strategic plans including development and expansion of enterprise's regional and ambulatory strategy, plus physician/medical group affiliations/acquisitions.
  • Responsible for utilizing data visualization and mapping software tools to create meaningful and understandable graphics (charts, tables, etc.)
  • Works with relevant stakeholders to prioritize strategic objectives and evaluate partnership and acquisition opportunities against identified strategies (Business Development Analysis).
  • Provides ad hoc reporting and statistical and financial analyses, as requested. Maintains currency with data and financial analysis techniques, standards and related technologies.
  • Collaborates cross-functionally with Finance, Decision Support, Business Development, Marketing, and Counsel to assist with a full analysis of potential affiliations/acquisitions.
  • Researches and analyzes health care industry dynamics and the competitive landscape.
  • Obtain and identify analytical requirements, annually refresh key data resources, plus compile and analyze data obtained from numerous information systems while employing the judgment necessary to ensure data accuracy and applicability of the conclusions.
  • Conducts research to support the organization’s Strategy & Operations as well as team project plans and other strategic initiatives.
  • Provides consulting and project management support as needed.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Req Bachelor's degree In related healthcare field with emphasis in business, strategy and healthcare/public health.
  • Req 2 years Experience in planning, finance, strategy and/or business development experience in a healthcare organization or consulting organization providing services to the healthcare industry; or equivalent experience.
  • Req Experience with key software and data tools including Maptitude, Qlik, Tableau, Sg2, Clarify Health and Crimson Market Advantage a plus
  • Req Strong analytical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Req Advanced experience with Microsoft Office suite & web browser applications
  • Req Team player with history of collaboration, who has the ability to work independently
  • Req Strong understanding of databases, spreadsheets, data visualization
  • Req Knowledge of business statistics and data analyses techniques
  • Req Ability communicate clearly and effectively
  • Req Ability to manage and analyze data
  • Req Willingness to ask questions if direction is unclear

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Pref Master's degree Masters with emphasis in business and healthcare (e.g. MBA, MHA, MHSA, MPH)
  • Pref Experience in healthcare environment is preferred

Required Licenses/Certifications:

  • Req Fire Life Safety Training (LA City) If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date. (Required within LA City only)

The annual base salary range for this position is $81,120.00 - $133,010.00.
