Provides assistance to research staff by collecting data, keeping records, conducting literature searches, technical research, analyzing data, and preparing reports with minimal supervision.
Duties:
- Conducts research in a community-based setting, to include but not limited to collection of data, specimens, and samples, and other research information from research participants in the field.
- Participates in clinical research projects, including recruitment of and collecting data from patients and/or participants in a study.
- Completes informed consent procedures and collects various forms of data pertaining to the research project(s), which could include database information and/or hard files.
- Conducts data analyses, interprets data, draws conclusions, and discusses with principal investigator.
- Meticulously follows study protocols, including keeping detailed logs of all research related projects or activities.
- Maintains clear, concise, and consistent logs of reported issues and work performed.
- Conducts literature searches.
- Assists in preparing various reports containing descriptive, analytical, and evaluative content that may be submitted for publication.
- Conducts dietary biomarker tests and collects dietary recalls.
- Collaborates with other researchers or colleagues.
- Participates in meetings and presents research findings to fellow researchers and Principal Investigator.
- Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

Required Education: Bachelor's Degree in a Biological Science, Chemistry, or Physical Science or related field AND:
- 12 months research laboratory experience.
Equivalency/Substitution: Will accept 48 months equivalent experience in lieu of the Bachelor's Degree for a total of 60 months research experience.
Skills:
- Working knowledge of how to safely handle and dispose of biohazardous materials or chemicals following Federal, State, and University regulations and guidelines.
- Detail oriented.
- Ability to collect data and keep records.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact with research participants and communicate verbally and in writing.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs including Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Advertised Physical Requirements:
- Physical: Standing for prolonged periods. Manual dexterity. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Reaching, bending, and stooping.
- Environmental: Laboratory Environment. Exposure to biohazardous materials, chemicals, odors, and/or carcinogens.
Department Preferences:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, or other closely related field.
- 12 months research experience in a community-based setting.
- Experience working with populations affected by food insecurity, limited health literacy and/or poverty.
- This position will require regular travel to rural community sites in Oklahoma. Reliable transportation is required. Mileage will be reimbursed at the federal level.
- Some job tasks will take place on evenings and weekends.
