Job Title:  Principal Research/Policy Analysis Professional

Job Summary:

The Farley Health Policy Center (FHPC) is seeking a Research Services Professional to manage policy and research projects and contribute to research activities to improve rural health care delivery and enhance behavioral health integration (BHI) in primary care. This position will provide research and policy support to project investigators and team members, implement study protocols, manage project timelines, and coordinate other tasks. The primary focus of the research and policy support will be qualitative methods, although experience in mixed methods is highly valued. Potential methods include performing environmental scans and document review, conducting key informant interviews, hosting focus groups, and convening stakeholders both virtually and in person, as well as quantitative data collection and/or management, analysis, and synthesis, including managing large datasets. This position will also be engaged in translating evidence-based findings to inform policymakers and other stakeholders. 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to both projects’ research aims by providing research and policy support, including, but not limited to:
  • Extracting, collecting, and aggregating data across databases, information sources, survey responses, and other data sources; ensuring data quality and consistency, and conducting descriptive analyses of project databases to produce tables, figures, and other infographics that summarize key findings for inclusion in project deliverables.
  • Performing policy and environmental scans, including document review, as well as analysis thereof.
  • Preparing for, scheduling, and conducting key informant interviews, as well as performing subsequent analysis.
  • Planning and hosting convenings, both in-person and virtual, as well as synthesizing key findings afterward.
  • Serve as the project manager for both the rural health and BHI projects, including, but not limited to:
  • Developing and implementing project work plans and COMIRB protocols, in concert with (co)PIs, to ensure the project remains within appropriate scope, timeline, and budget.
  • Leading, in concert with (co)PIs, team meetings, including developing agendas, maintaining current action items, tracking tasks toward completion, etc.

Work Location:

Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week on campus and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Health, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Data Science, Computer Science, or related field.
    • A combination of education and related technical/paraprofessional experience may be substituted for the bachelor’s degree on a year for year basis.
  • Three (3) years of research/policy analysis experience.
  • One (1) year of project management experience.

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Public Health, Social/Behavioral Sciences, Data Science, or related field.
  • Four (4) or more years of research/policy analysis experience with increasing responsibilities.
  • Two (2) or more years of project/research management experience with increasing responsibilities.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Colorado’s health care delivery system.
  • Knowledge of basic statistical/analytics principles relevant in health care research and/or policy analysis.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex problems and apply qualitative and/or quantitative analytical approaches.
  • Familiarity with agile project management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both in writing and orally.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees at all levels throughout the institution.
  • Outstanding customer service skills.
  • Familiarity with Teams, Zoom, Microsoft Office, etc.
  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.
  • Ability to interpret and master complex research and policy analysis protocol information.
  • Commitment to advancing health equity in Colorado communities.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as $63,673 - $74,498.

The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
