Job Summary:

The Colorado Mental Health Hospital in Pueblo (CMHHIP) is a 516-bed acute care psychiatric hospital that provides inpatient behavioral health services for adults, adolescents and geriatric patients. CMHHIP is a forensic hospital that serves individuals with pending criminal charges who require evaluations of competency, individuals who have been found to be incompetent to proceed (restoration treatment) and individuals found to be not guilty by reason of insanity by Colorado's criminal courts.

CMHHIP is located in southern Colorado on a 300-acre campus.  This position will be required to be in person in Pueblo, CO and is not located on Anschutz Medical Campus. 

This position is considered full time (1.0 FTE) but may there is potential for part time (<0.5 FTE) based on number of hours worked.

Key Responsibilities:

  • This position will be responsible for completing up to three Conditional Release examinations monthly.

Examples of Work Performed:

  • Complete not guilty by reason of insanity (NGRI) evaluations 

Work Location:

Hybrid - this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of at approx. 2 days onsite at Pueblo, CO location and as needed for in-person meetings.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.  
Academic rank will be determined during the interview process after discussion between you and the department about your previous experience and academic desires.

This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor or Senior Instructor based on experience and qualifications as indicated below:

Instructor:

  • Minimum Qualifications: MD/DO, CO Physician License or eligible for a CO Physician License
  • Board Eligible or Certified in Psychiatry
  • Experience working with Forensic populations.

Sr. Instructor:

  • Minimum Qualifications: MD/DO, CO Physician License or eligible for a CO Physician License
  • Board Eligible or Certified in Psychiatry
  • Experience working with Forensic populations. 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Trained in utilizing the Historical, Clinical and Risk 20, Version 3 and Hare Psychopathy Checklist – Revised.
  • Experience with C.R.S. 16-8-120 regarding release examinations.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated commitment and leadership ability to advance diversity and inclusion.

    Anticipated Pay Range:

    The starting salary range (or hiring range ) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE:

    Instructor: $225,000-$250,000 (per 1.0 FTE).

    Sr. Instructor: $225,000-$250,000 (per 1.0 FTE).

    The above salary range (or hiring range ) represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position is not eligible for overtime compensation unless it is non-exempt.
