Sr. Research Associate, Part-Time - (21002707)

Description

 

The part-time Senior Research Associate (SRA) will provide professional level research support to studies led by the Dean of the College of Public Health, also a professor in the Department of Social and Behavioral Sciences. Research studies focus on health communication and medical decision-making in multiple areas but especially around organ and tissue donation. It is expected that the SRA will work up to 20 hours per week, depending on the needs of ongoing research projects.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

The SRA’s primary responsibilities include written and oral communication with internal and external clients, collection and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data, implementing quality control procedures, contributing to grant submissions and peer-reviewed manuscripts, and managing research data files. The incumbent may also perform other duties as required.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience working on social and behavioral studies in public health. The incumbent should also have excellent communication and organizational skills, as well as the ability to develop rapport with a diverse range of individuals, other healthcare, and healthcare-related organizations.

Required Education & Experience:
 Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, health services research, public health, or related field and at least 4 years of related experience is required.  An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 

Required Skills & Abilities:
*Demonstrable experience with conducting qualitative and quantitative data collection
*Demonstrable experience with obtaining informed consent
*Proficiency in qualitative data analysis
*Proficiency in basic quantitative data analysis
*Experience with REDCap or other relational database
*Understanding of health disparities
*Experience working with underserved and underrepresented populations
*Experience with community-engaged research or initiatives
*Experience with producing reports to external partners and funding agencies
*Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks and planning
*Strong oral and written communication skills
*Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to adhere to deadlines.
*Proficiency in MS Office Suite applications and ability to master other computer applications
*Proficiency in academically oriented internet research (e.g. PubMed) and software (e.g. Mendeley)

Preferred:
*Past experience coordinating large social/behavioral research studies
*Record of contributing to peer-reviewed publications
*Experience with topics in solid organ and/or tissue donation
*Experience with analytical software for qualitative data, e.g. NVIVO, MAXQDA

Please note this position will temporarily work remotely, the duration of remote work will be at the discretion of Temple University and the department.
