Under the direction of the Executive Director of Technology, the Sr. Director of Data Management provides leadership by planning, leading and directing system integration to support a robust relationship management system, a digital marketing platform and an online personalized experience to enhance the Alumni affinity and engagement strategies.

Essential Duties

  • In collaboration with functional and technical staff, design and implement a data strategy to enhance affinity and engagement. 
  • Translates business strategy and vision into a data strategy through partnerships with key business stakeholders. 
  • Maps business opportunities to appropriate data architecture patterns and evolves data architecture as business strategies and technologies mature. 
  • Participates in development, implementation and revision of Alumni Engagement and Impact Office goals and objectives with the outcome to improve database management and CRM systems. 
  • Identifies creative solutions and uses appropriate technology to provide most effective results consistent with university and departmental goals and objectives. 
  • Manages and develops testing programs for new releases of CRM applications to identify changes and/or revisions, which impact operations. Actively participates in database conversion activities including data mapping, process creation, testing and training of staff. 
  • Remains abreast of technology directions, initiatives and trends within scope of expertise to provide ideas, guidance and recommendations. 
  • Actively participates in a variety of cross-departmental committees and special projects/programs to ensure data needs are anticipated for optimal data integration solution.
  • In the review of existing systems and processes, applies the techniques and principles of process and procedure reengineering in the design and development of new systems and process to enhance the Digital Experience of/for constituents. 
  • May serve as a liaison with Colleges and other Administrative, ET and third-party vendors if applicable. 
  • Reviews, evaluates, and documents existing programs and/or systems to identify and recommend the means of tying together interacting systems extending across university and/or functional lines. 
  • Serves as a point of contact for Salesforce and Data Management. 
  • Engages with stakeholders to ensure they are informed, aligned, and prepared for changes and migrations. 
  • Works with the Salesforce Administrator to coordinate training sessions for users, familiarizing them with environmental changes. Coordinate with the Salesforce Administrator for data functionality. 
  • Ensures that all Salesforce customizations, integrations, and data are migrated correctly, liaising with stakeholders for data integrity checks. 
  • Oversees the data stabilization addressing any issues or challenges related to Salesforce, Data Analytics and Data workflows. 
  • Gathers feedback from users and collaborate with the Salesforce Administrator to implement necessary adjustments.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree in a field appropriate to the area of assignment and eight (8) years of related administrative experience, including six (6) years of supervisory experience; OR, any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

  • Design and development experience in complex information system architecture, project planning and relationship management systems. 
  • Experience in problem solving with the ability to apply strong critical and logical analysis to business scenarios in the context of technology and data architecture. 
  • Experience in performing complex analysis of customer data using company provided tools and systems. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of budget management methods and techniques, including budget formulation, execution and control. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of state laws, Arizona Board of Regents and University rules, regulations, policies and practices. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of principles, concepts, and practices of organizational management. 
  • Experience in planning and executing projects for information resources and technology. 
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships, fostering and maintaining effective interpersonal relations and resolution of issues across organizational lines. 
  • Evidence of effective communication. 
  • Experience in decision-making. 
  • Experience in effectively managing, supervising, coaching and evaluating assigned staff. 
  • Experience in proven project management skills with an emphasis on timeline adherence. 
  • Experience in stakeholder management and communication skills. 
  • Experience in liaising between Salesforce and database teams. 
  • Ability to work effectively in an environment subject to changing priorities and time constraints. 
  • Experience in work that requires in being detail-oriented with the ability to quickly adapt to changing priorities.

Working Environment

  • Activities are performed in an environmentally controlled office setting subject to extended periods of sitting, keyboarding and manipulating a computer mouse; frequently required to stand and walk.
  • Occasional bending, reaching, lifting, pushing and pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to regularly change priorities to accomplish tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • May work weeknights, weekends and holidays.
