Position Summary

The position assists in the execution of standardized patient (SP) educational activities and program operations, ensuring they reflect and further the mission and values of KUSM-W.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience
• Proficiency in managing and using computerized databases
• Will be required to pass USMLE certifying exam for proctors
• Ability to work a flexible schedule in order to meet program needs

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working with standardized patient/simulation programs
• Experience working with medical students, faculty members, and/or residents
• Experience working in a medical school setting
• Experience in clinical education
• Experience in a patient care setting

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Coordinate and oversee events for School of Pharmacy and School of Medicine Years 1 and 2 to include: Schedule and maintain calendar of all events, assign SP roles, prepare all supplies, confirm logistics, solve issues, answer questions, address student or faculty concerns and clarify timing of sessions.
Input and maintain the event schedules, SP checklists, supporting documents, and guidance from supervisor within the CAE system.
Co-lead training for School of Pharmacy.
Support New Standardized Patient (SP) Orientation, review and update information as necessary.
Follow instruction as directed by event clinical faculty.

Job Duties

Description of Job Duty

Serve as session assistance backup for events which includes preparing all computers for the session, moving students to rooms, monitoring time for the encounters and notes, providing announcements in CAE, recording sessions, and gathering materials after the session.
Provide proctoring services for the Prometric Testing Center.
Follow confidentiality policies regarding personnel information.
Follow department record keeping practices and assure confidentiality and security at all times.
Work collaboratively with KUSM-W departments.
Participate in appropriate professional organizations as directed by SP supervisor.
Perform other duties as assigned.
