SUMMARY:

Texas A&M AgriLife Research seeks a Software Applications Developer IV to work in College Station, Texas.

JOB DUTIES:

Lead the development of software solutions that support our drug discovery initiatives and applications in Structural Genomics, which includes working with various multi-disciplinary teams both internal and external to the organization. Take ownership of SDLC and partner with internal and external customers to define analytics requirements and deliver flexible, scalable, end-to-end solutions; and communicate with clients to understand and interpret needs. Document current business processes and prepare business and technical requirements for new or existing individual applications or module functions. Develop quick internal tools to support research scientists. Lead the design and development of IT infrastructure required to support the hosting and deployment of the above software solutions, various other scientific tools, petabyte-scale data storage and backups, user authentications, and virtual desktops. Migration of monolith legacy systems to Microservice architecture using laC tools, and containers, in a hybrid cloud environment (AWS + On-premises). Participate in the design of new infrastructure systems or upgrades and establish standards for server administration based on regulatory requirements and compliances. Maintain existing on-premises servers including but not limited to patch management and vulnerability redemption. Performs other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum Education required: Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field.

Minimum Experience required: 8 Years of experience in design, development, and maintenance of software applications, including 2 years of experience in design, development, and maintenance of software applications associated with fields in drug discovery and structural biology.
