What we want 


Senior Visualization Production Specialist , is responsible for production operations including production resource management and training in the Visualization Laboratory in the new School of Performance, Visualization & Fine Arts. This role will be responsible for creating and managing data visualizations, production assets, interaction models, mock-ups and more. This individual selected for this position will need to have and maintain a strong understanding of design principles and experience in developing and adhering to data visualization standards, providing technical leadership, coaching, and mentoring to team members along with evaluating new visualization tools and performing research on best practices. Salary: Compensation will be commensurate to selected hire’s experience.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience: 


  • Bachelor’s Degree in digital communication, RTF (radio, television, film), visualization, or related field.  

  • 5 years progressive responsibility in advanced production environment. 


  


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 


  • Knowledge of MacOS & Windows operating systems.  

  • Knowledge of augmented reality and knowledge of virtual production. 

  • Knowledge of standard industry software in Animations, Game Development, Virtual Production and Performance areas (i.e. - Unreal Engine, Houdini, Unity, etc.) 

  • Ability to move about buildings and throughout campus; navigate in cramped spaces and occasionally ascend/descend ladders. 

  • Must be able to lift or move, with assistance, light to heavy objects that may be uniquely shaped including, but not limited to audio/video production equipment.

  • Ability to work occasional nights and weekends as needed. May require occasional local travel.


 


Preferred Qualifications: 


  • Knowledge of video & audio systems with advanced knowledge of operating environments & hardware.

  • Advanced knowledge of augmented reality and virtual production.

  • Experience with leading edge video production software and experience teaching new software to colleagues.


Essential Duties/Tasks 


  • Production Operations:  Serves as producer &/or production editor on digital visualization projects as assigned.  Performs production engineering routines on a daily basis. Fosters technical awareness & capabilities by instructing students, faculty and staff in production engineering operations. Performs pre-production planning. 

  • Professional Production Expertise: Maintains industry currency and contacts related to visualization production.  Assists visualization researchers on issues of production.  Participates at industry conferences and symposia on visualization topics. Instructs in continuing education setting on   visualization production.  Serves on relevant University, College, and Laboratory committees.  


  • Production Support:  Collaborate with IT on industry standards and software purchases. Work with faculty and IT in assuring that the best software, computers and graphic cards are being purchased to maximize teaching capabilities. Provide production guidance to IT and faculty.  

  • Supervision: Supervises student worker, graduate assistants and junior staff in production operations and staging for visualization productions.
