The Senior Video Network Specialist, under general supervision, provides technical leadership for video conferencing, databases, and computer support and will ensure that AV systems are connecting on the College Station end (eliminating all user error that might occur) in each classroom. Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related experience with video teleconference systems.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications with strong interpersonal skills. 
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Ability to design, supervise, construct, and operate interactive network systems utilizing T1 lines and satellite uplinks.
  • Ability to program in several languages and administer several different operating systems.
  • Ability to work in a collaborative team environment and work cooperatively with a diverse range of people.  
  • Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot and maintain presentation equipment as well as video conferencing systems across multiple classrooms and campuses.

Preferred Experience:

  • Three years of experience with Crestron, AMX, etc. control systems; video conferencing bridges (cisco, telepresence servers); Medisite experience (video conferencing recorder); Mac and Windows video applications & computer equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting and repair of audio video equipment and computer equipment.
  • Experience with codec bridges.
  • Experience with Tangberg systems.
  • Audio Visual (AV) experience.
  • Experience working with Faculty in Higher Education.

Responsibilities:

  • Video Conferencing Management - Administers and maintains video teleconference equipment and network, which includes working with departmental wireless area network (WAN) groups to establish efficient and secure connections from EBS to video teleconference end users. Coordinates with EBS operations to ensure proper training and operation techniques. Determines equipment and operation practices and recommends changes and/or new equipment to meet objectives.
  • Computer Management - Installs, programs, and maintains departmental servers, including web, mail, streaming media, database, video conference automation, and scheduling servers. Writes scripts and programs for automated machine control and remote location operations.
  • Network Management - Administers departmental local area network (LAN) services and equipment. Maintains departmental network services. Assigns internet protocol (IP) addresses to users and administers the dynamic host configuration protocol (DHCP) servers for HSC.
  • Desktop Support - Administers departmental desktop and portable personal computers. Maintains anti-virus and anti-spam filters. Identifies equipment for required upgrades. Provides mail network access and passwords for new users. Coordinates repair of personal computers.
  • Training/Documentation - Provides and assists with end user training and performs other duties as assigned.
