What You Will Achieve

The Pfizer Inflammation & Immunology Research Unit (I&I RU) in Cambridge is seeking a motivated and dynamic Senior Scientist to join the In Vitro Pharmacology Group. The main responsibilities of the candidate scientist are to develop, execute and provide pharmacology expertise for in vitro model systems and assays of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases, and to conduct and support mechanistic in vitro and ex vivo studies. This candidate will also carry out in vitro experiments to support the identification and characterization of lead molecules to successfully deliver on our neuroinflammation portfolio. The ideal candidate will demonstrate close attention to detail, effective reasoning, and discipline-specific problem-solving competencies in experimental design.

How You Will Achieve It

  • Support the growth of neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration capabilities by designing and executing preclinical in vitro studies and guiding strategic vision for our neuroinflammation portfolio. This includes the establishment and optimization of new in vitro assay systems and implementation of disease relevant endpoint measurements.
  • Stay up to date with literature, competitive landscape and follow new trends/innovations with in vitro technologies in the neurodegeneration/neuroinflammation space.
  • Collaborate with RU scientists and other partner lines across Pfizer to support drug development and deliver on portfolio project needs.
  • Utilize available resources to achieve timely execution of projects and collaborate with cross-functional teams (internal and external) to execute plans and deliverables.
  • Regularly record experimental work upon completion in electronic notebook systems.
  • Analyze, interpret, upload and present data in project team meetings and Department meetings.
  • Serve as a resource to explore new avenues for preclinical research in neurodegeneration.
  • Educate other scientists, provide hands-on training, and give internal and external presentations.
