Job Description Summary:
The position is in the Office of Medical Education. Responsibilities include analyzing, benchmarking, and summarizing student performance, conducting medical education research, assisting with grants, and creating and validating assessment and evaluation measures.
The Senior Research Analyst will report to the Associate Dean for Assessment and Evaluation. This person will work with a team of professionals including data base programmers, the Director of Assessment and Evaluation, and the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Education.
Job Description:

Provides statistical and research design support for faculty research projects and grants.
Works closely with colleagues during design and implementation stages of evaluation and research programs, including grant preparation.
Participates in ongoing medical education research.

Provides statistical analysis and expertise for the mining of longitudinal student performance data including prediction of students that may struggle in the curriculum.

Accurately writes summary reports for presentation to the curriculum development committees.

Provides support to course committees at school wide and unit (department, division, etc.) levels as needed.

Works with the Associate Dean for Assessment and Evaluation to develop and maintain a comprehensive set of assessment and evaluation tools and benchmarks to monitor the educational process and student progress.
Provides expertise on and conducts instrument creation and validation.
Other duties as assigned.
** Required Qualifications **
• Master’s degree in statistics, psychology, education, public health or related area.
• Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative evaluation and statistical methods.
• Demonstrated experience working with R and/or Python programing languages.
• Demonstrated experience in creating and benchmarking measurement instruments.
• Experience conducting program/outcome evaluations.
• Demonstrated experience with database development, management and data collection, including maintaining longitudinal data.
• Demonstrated experience with statistical software (SPSS, SAS, QDA miner, etc.) and Microsoft office.
• Demonstrated organizational, analytical, and written and oral communication skills.
• Demonstrated ability to work in a faced-paced environment, handle multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
** Preferred Qualifications **
• PhD in statistics, education, psychology, public health or related field.
• At least 1 year experience in the measurement of student knowledge, skills, attitudes, and performance.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in psychometrics and statistical analyses. Understands the strengths and weaknesses of the evaluation method(s) used and statistical analyses conducted.
• Demonstrated knowledge and skills in R or Python programing with real world experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with generalizability theory and experience conducting generalizability studies.
• Demonstrated knowledge and experience with multiple regression procedures including linear and non-linear models, logistic, and Cox regression.
• Experience with standard setting methods including exam-based, examinee-based, and compromise methods. Examples include Angoff, Hofstee, Bookmark, and Contrasting group methods.
• Experience conducting quantitative and qualitative research and applying statistical methods in a medical education environment. Including the dissemination of research and evaluation results in journals and at conferences.
